Observation Hour Requirements

The College of Dentistry requires that all applicants spend a minimum of 20 observation hours in a general practice dental office.

This experience provides the applicant with a first-hand look at the profession of dentistry. It may serve to either reinforce or discourage the applicant’s interest in dentistry.

Observation hours may not be  scheduled with a family member, and, may not take place in a teaching facility, such as a college or university. Additional time spent with a specialist is strongly encouraged.

Observation hours must be completed in the U.S. or Canada.
