Our Selection Process

 

Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received and completed. If you do not apply early, you will miss your opportunity to be invited to an interview.

If you submit your application and apply EARLY (June 1st), you will have a much better chance to be considered for an interview.

 

First received – first reviewed.

Decisions are made concerning interviews in the order in which applications are received, completed and reviewed.

 

First received – first completed – first reviewed – first interview invitations.

If you complete your application and apply LATE (in August), there is a chance that, regardless of your credentials, you will NOT be considered for an interview (see dates below).

 

Last received – last reviewed – no interview spots available – no interview invitations.  

   

Decisions concerning the selection of applicants for admission are determined by the College of Dentistry Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee is charged with choosing applicants who demonstrate the strongest potential to succeed in dental school and in the profession.

• A whole file review is used to review all applications.
• Both academic and non-academic experiences are carefully reviewed.
• Strong academic credentials are essential.
• Science grades are considered important.
• DAT scores are important indicators of probable performance as a dental student.
• Integrity, motivation, commitment, intellect, maturity and social awareness are considered.
• Knowledge of the dental profession and dental activities in practice is considered.
• Hobbies indicative of manual skills are considered.
• Those applicants with the strongest credentials are invited to visit for an interview.
• An interview is required for acceptance.
