A Note from Dr. John Rhodes, Past
President of the Dental Alumni Society
It takes diligence
to make it through the College of
Dentistry’s dental hygiene and dental
courses that test your
intelligence, your patience, and your
dedication. The rewards for your efforts are
now or will soon be evident as you enter the
world of professional dentistry. You’re a
graduate of a world-class university, and
you’ll soon find you’re better prepared,
better regarded, and better trained than
most of your colleagues who are entering the
profession. Once this realization hits you,
we ask that you don’t forget us!
Remember the dedicated instructors who
encouraged you, the friends who stayed late
to help you, and the patients who kept
smiling even through long appointments --
but, most importantly, remember the college
and all the memories you shared here.
As a student, the influence of others helped
you become who you are now. Your
professors taught you dentistry, your
friends showed you camaraderie, and your
family instilled in you the culture and
values you share. As an alumnus, who you are
will be reflected by the choices you alone
can make. And where would you be today
without Ohio State?
Personally, there has
never been a day of my professional life
that I haven’t been proud of graduating from
The Ohio State University. So, I encourage
you to consider your blessings and do your
best to support your alma mater.
As a past president and a current Dental
Alumni Society Board of Governors member, I
welcome you to your alumni society, and I
invite you to join us in remembering the
great times shared by all at the College of
Dentistry. The society offers lasting
friendship, fun events, and wonderful
benefits. I encourage you to become a member
and to continue supporting our great
college. Think about your years as a
Buckeye and what they meant to you, and
