Financial Services
Financing your dental education can be an overwhelming process, and if you have questions about how to pay for dental school, you’ve come to the right place. The College of Dentistry is committed to supporting students’ financial plans and needs, and this section of the website will guide you in your first steps toward planning how to pay for your dentistry education. Ohio State’s dental students meet the costs of their education by using a variety of sources: personal and family resources, loan assistance, and scholarships from the College of Dentistry and external organizations. Through the generosity of alumni, friends and supporters of the College of Dentistry, various scholarships are awarded to students each year. The awarding philosophy of the College is to provide aid to students who are in need, and to those students who have a record of academic excellence and accomplishment. Additionally, a select number of awards are given to students based on community service and leadership. Loan assistance is readily available to Ohio State’s students. Loan programs commonly used by dental students include the William D. Ford Stafford federal loan program, and University loans. Students interested in receiving financial aid (University loans, federal loans, and scholarships) must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. The deadline for completion of the FAFSA is February 15th of each year. Assistance regarding financial aid at the College of Dentistry is provided by Tammy Lewis, Financial Aid Coordinator. Walk-in office hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. in room 1159 Postle Hall. Students may also call 614-292-7768, or e-mail lewis.36@osu.edu for more information.
