Dental Emergency Care Clinic

The Dental Emergency Care Clinic at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is a walk-in service available to adult patients older than age 18. Appointments are not accepted. Emergency care is provided by third- and fourth-year dental students under the supervision of college faculty.

The Clinic is primarily for adult patients, older than age 18, who are experiencing:

  • moderate-to-severe pain that is not relieved by taking pain medications
  • oral bleeding
  • facial/oral swelling

Services to treat these issues include tooth extraction and root canals.

The Dental Emergency Care Clinic does not currently provide: fillings/crowns, denture repairs, cleanings, and general wisdom teeth (third molar) extractions. Patients who need these services should become patients of the College. IV-sedation is also not available as a walk-in treatment option.

To become a patient of the College of Dentistry, call the Information Desk at 614-292-2751 (choose option 2) to set up an evaluation appointment.

Patients younger than 18 should seek care at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (walk-in hours are 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. weekdays). Phone: 614-722-5650 for more information.
