John R. Kalmar, DMD, PhD

Dr. John R. Kalmar is a Clinical Professor
in the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pathology
at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry. Dr. Kalmar
completed his dental training at Southern Illinois University
in 1979. After a residency in hospital dentistry at the University
of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, he received specialty training
in oral and maxillofacial pathology at Emory University and
later earned a Ph.D. in Pathology at Emory. Dr. Kalmar served
as Clinic Director for the School of Postgraduate Dentistry
at Emory from 1989-1992. In 1992, he joined the faculties of
the Eastman Dental Center and the Department of Pathology at
the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY and developed a
successful oral biopsy service and clinical practice. In 1999,
Dr. Kalmar accepted his current position at OSU. He has numerous
teaching responsibilities at both the pre-doctoral and post-graduate
levels. |
He participates in an active oral biopsy service
that receives surgical specimens from across the United States
and provides clinical consultations to patients with a variety
of oral diseases. Dr. Kalmar became a Diplomate of the
American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in 1991. He
currently serves on the Research and Scientific Affairs
Committee for the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial
Pathology and serves on the editorial Board of Oral Surgery,
Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontics.
