General Practice Residency (GPR)
2012-13 Applicant Information The Ohio State University College of Dentistry offers a comprehensive training
program general dentistry education at the postdoctoral
level. It includes hospital dentistry, medically compromised and
special needs patients and a strong emphasis on clinical general
dentistry. It is accredited by the American Dental Association as a
General Practice Residency. Two year options are also available selectively.
A Second Year Option is available for additional clinical
training - this is selective in nature
and requires completion of the first year GPR program. ACCREDITATION STATUS: Following the site visit in March 2006
the ADA issued this statement for the GPR program at Ohio State: The
dental education programs in ... general practice residency ... are
accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation [and have been
granted the accreditation status of "approval without reporting
requirements"]. (This is the highest possible accreditation
status.) The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by
the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental
