Student Research Group (SRG)

The National AADR Student Research Group (NSRG) is one of 18 groups of the AADR, organized into local Chapters at many dental schools. Each Student Research Group (SRG) chapter elects chapter officers, and all AADR student members vote annually to elect NSRG officers. As stated in its Constitutions and By-Laws, the primary objectives of the NSRG are to:
- promote student research in dentistry and its related disciplines.
- promote the advancement of dental research and related aspects.
- further the aims and objectives of the AADR and IADR as they relate to student research.

Other goals are to:
- identify students interested in research.
- generate further student and faculty interest in research.
- help students organize in order to seek research opportunities more efficiently.

AADR student members have all rights of active members, except that individual student members have no direct vote in the making of AADR policy.  However, the National SRG President serves on the AADR Board of Directors as a full voting member and all SRG members do have exclusive voting privileges on all SRG issues.

There is an Ohio State University SRG, which conducts business of a local nature, including social and educational events, and election campaigns for the National SRG. The objectives of The OSU SRG include the facilitation of student-faculty research relationships, and helping students identify and pursue their research interest. The 2011-12 officers of the OSU SRG are President Matthew Mason (.369), Vice-President Andrew Holpuch (.5), Secretary Stephanie Gans (.11); and Treasurer Byungdo (Brian) Han (.249). The current faculty advisor to the OSU SRG is the Director of the Student Research Program, Dr. William Johnston.
