The interdisciplinary nature of dental radiology is integral to the functional methodology of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
With a centralized clinic, equipped with fully digital technology and the capability to acquire intraoral, extraoral (panoramic and cephalometric radiographs) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, the division provides a variety of services to the dental pre-doctoral, hygiene and advanced training programs as well as our intramural Dental Faculty Practice.
We are dedicated to educating dental pre-doctoral and hygiene students, residents, and graduate students in the analysis, assessment, and radiographic diagnosis of conventional and advanced images in both didactic and clinical settings. Radiology services, such as image acquisition, consultations, and written radiographic interpretations, are also extended to external private practices.
Additionally, division faculty offer a variety of continuing education opportunities pertaining to both conventional and advanced imaging techniques for all dental professionals. Research efforts primarily focus on describing the radiographic appearances of common abnormal findings, maxillofacial pathologies and craniofacial anomalies utilizing a variety of imaging modalities.
