Dr. Beau Meyer Named Midcareer Scholar
Dr. Beau Meyer was chosen for the Provost’s Midcareer Scholars: Scarlet and Gray program. He is one of only six faculty members at Ohio State to receive this award.
The program honors associate professors who do great work in teaching, research and service. Dr. Meyer was surprised with the news during a visit from Senior Vice Provost for Leadership and External Engagement Dr. Patrick Louchouarn and Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Dr. Helen Malone.
Dr. Meyer leads a $3.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. His work focuses on silver diamine fluoride, a safe and gentle treatment for tooth decay in children. His research also supports better Medicaid policies for dental care.
Scarlet and Gray scholars hold the title for three years. During that time, they receive extra pay, a yearly stipend for their work, and a one-semester sabbatical. They also take part in special events led by the Office of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Meyer is the second College of Dentistry faculty member to earn this honor. Dr. Brian Foster, chair of the Division of Biosciences, received the award in 2023.
