Why I chose The Ohio State University College of Dentistry:

I went to Ohio State for undergrad, so I knew "how firm thy friendship" was and getting into dental school here was the dream. Being a South Asian American woman, I found that I craved for people with a similar background and passion as me. I have made so many wholesome memories with my classmates and many connections with the faculty. Being in the College of Dentistry, I have learned that we are all in this together and my classmates have become some of my closest friends. No one will understand as much as the people who are going through it with you. I will be the first dentist in my family and I am so grateful to be here!

Question Why did you choose The Ohio State University College of Dentistry?
Answer

I wanted to stay close to home!

Question Where did you attend for your undergraduate degree?
Answer

I went to undergrad here at THE Ohio State University! Go Bucks!

Question What is your favorite class in the program?
Answer

I really love all my Fixed classes, although there was a learning curve, it was so fun learning about crown preps and bridges!

Question What are 3 things people should know about you?
Answer

I would want people to know:
I believe in balance and resilience. School is just one aspect of your life, make sure you take time for people, passions that keep you grounded!
I am a lifelong learner. From mastering hand skills to understanding the “why” behind treatment plans, I thrive on growth. I believe curiosity and humility are essential traits in both school and practice.
I’m driven by purpose and compassion. Dentistry is more than a clinical skill—it's about building trust and making patients feel genuinely cared for. I’m passionate about creating positive, human-centered experiences in every interaction.

Question What do you enjoy doing outside of dental school?
Answer

Outside of school I enjoy applying henna tattoos on my friends and clients, reading fantasy novels, long walks, and having quality time with my family and friends!

Question What is your best advice for succeeding in the dental program?
Answer

You might not be good the first time you learn how to do something! It is inevitable that the constructive criticism that is given by faculty members may hurt your ego and feelings sometimes. Know that everyone here at the College of Dentistry at Ohio State really wants you to succeed and be the best dentist you can be. One piece of advice I would give is to be open to constructive criticism and know that there will be tough days and you just have to take it one step at a time. You will always find help if you ask for it. Be curious and be kind; not only patients, but to yourself as well.

Question What do you wish you knew as an incoming dental student?
Answer

Something I wish I knew coming into dental school would be that it's okay not to know everything right away—confidence comes with reps, not just grades. Everyone in your class is the best of the best, we all came here for a reason and reminding yourself not to compare yourself to others is imperative for your own mental health and wellbeing. You will learn that it takes time to learn a new skill and it is okay to not get it right on your first attempt. Be resilient and patient with yourself, the confidence will come!
