I attended undergrad here at Ohio State and really fell in love with the school and also the city of Columbus. I grew to have a close church community and really wanted to stay in Columbus, so when I decided to apply for dental schools, Ohio State made the most sense and brought me the most peace. The Ohio State College of Dentistry is one of the top ranked dental schools in the nation, but for me the sense of community and teamwork within the class itself really solidified my decision to apply. As the first doctor in my family, I truly am blessed to be here at Ohio State and grateful for the community around me!

- Question What is your best advice for succeeding in dental school?
-
Answer
Succeeding in dental school is framed by you. There are obviously caveats to that statement but in general, how you want your dental school experience to go is up to you. Academically, socially, and mentally: these are all things you can take control of while at school. Balance your time so that you don’t get burnt out and can still enjoy your time outside of school. The people around you, both faculty and classmates, want to see you all succeed so take advantage of it. Ask lots of questions and be kind to those around you.
- Question What do you wish you knew as in incoming dental student?
-
Answer
I wish I knew how to study best before coming into school. I personally am a very relaxed person and so it is easy for me to balance school with non-school things, which I know isn’t the case for everyone. However, when it comes to cramming, I never really had to do it on the level I need to know for school, and it can really be a shock when the exams roll around. It’s something everyone adapts to but for me I would’ve really liked to know that I learn best with repetition and talking through material with other classmates.
